A Tale of Two Coasts - The Apologist x Believin Stephen feat. IV Conerly
Beat by The Apologist
Lyrics by Believin Stephen & IV Conerly
Album- “After the Storm”
First Verse- Believin Stephen
I've always been digging hip-hop, as a kid I would stop
And sit and I'd watch Rap City a lot
(Ugggh) Plus flip through the Box these videos rocked
I'm giving em props, isn't this hot, I'd listen to Nas
Plus Biggie and Pac and Big did spit with the Lox
And they were ripping it ock,so many hits they did drop
Their cities they'd flaunt, but Biggie and Pac got sick of the taunts
Conflicts and they fought, East Coast? Pac flipping em off
New York, New York, Snoop, Daz and Kurupt
They were kicking over buildings and then acting real tough
The East was like yo man they laughing at us, they think we wack and we suck
They actually was really rapping this stuff?!
On tracks they would cuss with Westside Connection
They set their attention to send guys with weapons?
Who shot ya?!?! Biggie and Pac both murdered
The cases unsolved and there is still no verdict
When they died I was bothered and sobbed cause I was rocking their songs
And nodding along, hip-hop was my god
I thought I was good but I was awfully wrong
Because my thoughts were so flawed and that is part of the prob
I was naughty a lot and breaking laws with my squad
Due to my guilt I was running and then jogging from God
I had beef with God like the East and West Coast
And now we at peace cause of Jesus' death bro!!
Hook- Repeat 2x
(IV)-The reason for breathing is Christ our boast
Believin with Stephen on one new coast
(Believin Stephen)-The reason for breathing is Christ our boast
Now we have unity peep what IV wrote
Second Verse- IV Conerly
I was barely 13 but I loved the scene
Pendleton’s, khakis, and Ts fresh Wallabees
Rapping in my room the neighbors heard me downstairs
Got introduced to my big homie had me in the Lair
I was bumping Dogg Pound, the homies rags was blue
My cousin South Central, the L-B-C crew
They showed me love so I was proud to be 4 dubbin
With the thugs, North County Diego we had it jumpin
Time went on just bragging about the things we did
Back and forth in LA getting mo wit da biz
As a kid banged Kool Moe D
Fast forward to Das Efx, Nas then Jay-Z
Then we stopped bumping all the East because of beef
They said music got weak when it came to the West streets
Loved the drama between 2Pac and Biggie
Was hotter than a sauna after kill shots was empty
I was lost tryna find a way to fit in
Disrespected the cross by the way that I was liv-in
Christ was patient to this glory thief correction rod
The situations I shouldn’t have made it but it was God!!
Hook- Repeat 2x
(IV)-The reason for breathing is Christ our boast
Believin with Stephen on one new coast
(Believin Stephen)-The reason for breathing is Christ our boast
Now we have unity peep what IV wrote
Third Verse- Believin Stephen & IV
(Stephen)-It's like the East and the West and IV be my guest
We MCs on a quest and by Jesus we're blessed
That's why we speak of His death cuz we were beefing and stressed
It was leaving us vexed, at the cross He intersects
(IV)-When both coasts come together it’s the W & E
If you take away a letter you could never spell “We”
We united, I’m excited, all compliments to Christ
Sin is smited, you invited to instruments of life…
(Stephen)- Once divided sin had blinded, the consequence was strife (What else?)
Now united so we writing an got marvelous sight
By God’s grace we will never kneel to Satan (Nah!!)
Christ has given us forgiving hearts and reconciliation!!
Different skin, different men, but there’s a deeper connection
Different regions but believing in Jesus’ resurrection
‘A Tale of Two Coasts’, in your just ride let it bump
We hype about election without Biden or Trump… Bol!!!

There are only a handful of albums that I can't play out, this is the newest addition to the "unplayoutable" category. This album is full of thought provoking conviction. Most of the production is rock-solid, reviving the 90's vibes that I so dearly miss. On each repeated listen the album is as good as the first time listening to it, if not better. Alexey Dolotov

Fam, this album was well crafted. From front to back I appreciated the different emotions and looks you gave us.👍🏿 The beat truly goes on for real. The ending of "The Grace" could of been a song on it's own as a doxology of praise. 🙌🏿 The cypher joint was too cold! I wanted more bars though, everybody did their thing though. "It Goes On" was way too short for a party joint my brother. Yo quería más mi hermano, para bailar necesitamos más de dos minutos cuarenta y dos segundos. Ronald Wagogo
